This tour was designed for people who want to experience the intimate island vibe of Vieques. The private tour ensures that you and your group can relax and enjoy the undisturbed beaches with only the company of your guide and your horses. Are you more interested in local flora and fauna or do you want to learn about the paso fino horse's gait? Jurutungo guides like to get to know you and answer all of your questions about everything from your horse to island living. Reserving a private ride allows the ride to be tailored to your ability level. Your views from the saddle include a famous 400 year old ceiba tree, tropical fruit trees, a mile long pier, and shallow coastline with clear waves. Instagram worthy photos included.
1.5 hours, $90
Meet us at the famous 400 year old Ceiba tree to begin your adventure! After giving your horse a molasses cookie and a quick lesson from your guide, you will hit the trail. The maximum group size is 10 people, with an experienced guide in front and in back of the group to make you feel confidant while riding. Your toes will dip in the warm clear water when your horse takes you along the beach trail. We take pictures at a remote beach with a stunning background so you can slay your vacation photos.
We ride along quiet dirt roads and beaches that are not reachable by vehicles. We offer a quiet relaxing morning tour and a sunset tour. Both offer dramatic views of marine life, native flowers and fruits, and neighboring islands on the north shore of Vieques.
Previous horseback riding experience is not necessary, but your experience level will set the speed of the tour. A lesson is included for those who need it at the start of the trip. Our horses are trained to remain at a walk until stimulated to pick up speed. If you have previous experience we would love to show you the unique gaits of Puerto Rican Criollo horses in a private tour.
We suggest wearing whatever you think will be the most comfortable for you. You may want pants or leggings so that the saddle and stirrups do not rub your skin. Closed toed shoes are advised for horseback riding, but your feet will get wet! Try to wear shoes that won’t slide off of your feet. Helmets will be provided and are mandatory. We know this can be a tricky activity to dress for. Don’t stress! Grab the most coastal cowgirl outfit in your suitcase and meet us at the beach to ride.
